A special afternoon of Swiss football awaits FC Bavois this Saturday as the Vaud-based club, Visit Karatu's founding football partner in Switzerland, welcomes Servette FC of Geneva to the Stade des Peupliers for the first round of the 2026/27 Swiss Cup. The tie brings together two clubs from very different levels of Swiss football: Bavois from the Hoval Promotion League, and Servette from the Brack Super League.
For FC Bavois, this is much more than another match. Hosting one of Switzerland's historic clubs is a major occasion for the players, supporters, partners and the whole community of Bavois — and a chance to test themselves against top-level opposition. The club have made a positive start to their league campaign, with a win over Bellinzona followed by a 2-2 draw against FC Zurich U21.
Servette arrive as favourites. The Geneva club lifted the Swiss Cup in 2024, though they have since been eliminated in the Round of 32 in both following seasons, so a strong start to this year's competition matters to them too. They come to Bavois with confidence after their first league win of the season, 2-1 against Grasshopper Club Zurich on 8 August.
It has all the ingredients of a classic cup tie: a smaller club at home, a major Super League opponent, passionate supporters close to the pitch, and a place in the next round at stake. FC Bavois carries little pressure and plenty of motivation.
